About Us

We are an independent group of music and organ enthusiasts, who are currently working to promote our city's rich heritage in the magnificent Ashton Hall (inside Lancaster Town Hall), where the organ is located.

Lord Ashton had the great foresight to have incorporated this magnificent concert hall in the plans for his model Town Hall, which was opened in 1909. We have gained official recognition for our charitable work from Lancaster City Council, who we work with in close partnership. We are working to:

  • promote the existence of the fine concert organ in the Ashton Hall.
  • promote educational opportunities for all interested in organ music.
  • raise funds for the full restoration of the organ.
  • create opportunities for live music-making and enjoyment.
  • re-establish the Ashton Hall as a premier concert venue in Lancaster.
  • unite the various choirs and musical orchestras and ensembles in a common goal.
  • preserve, in full working order the unique organ in the Ashton Hall.
  • establish the historical and unique importance of our fine organ.
  • sympathetically re-build the organ to its original specification and design.
